![]() BCB Corrects Incorrect Statement in Royal Gazette Article "Borden out of Americas Tour"
In regards to the article in the Royal Gazette published on June 13, 2011, "Borden out of Americas Tour," by Josh Ball, the Bermuda Cricket Board would like to confirm that it received private correspondence from National player and St. David's cricketer Mr. Delyone Borden on Friday afternoon. Although the content of the letter will not be released, the Bermuda Cricket Board would like to thank Mr. Borden for the letter and clarify that at no stage has any member of the Board contemplated closing the door on Mr. Borden's future playing career with the Bermuda National team.
Coach David Moore stated,
"When available to play Delyone has been an integral part of the Bermuda playing line up and has contributed not only to the performance of the team but the spirit of the team both on and off the field. It would be unthinkable to finish the career of a young and talented player such as Delyone due to personal circumstance. Sporting teams, administrators and supporters must understand that while players are not full time there will be always instances of unavailability due to work or personal commitments. Delyone worked exceptionally well during our winter program and performed admirably in Dubai. We look forward to welcoming him back into the squad when his situation changes."
Reginald Pearman commented,
"It is most disheartening to once again have to correct a mischievous and misleading article in the RG. We are a small country that punches above its weight in the international arena and it is critical that we work together as a community to maximize our results. The statement about the BCB closing the door on Delyone is complete nonsense." |
