BCB Education Progamme

In the summer of 2003 a highly successful scholarship programme was launched which promotes academic and cricketing excellence amongst Bermuda's youth.

The first recipient of this scholarship, Stefan Kelly, National Team player, successfully completed his GCSE's and A-Levels at Oakham School in England and is currently studying a BSc in Sports Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff.

Since 2003 the BCB has expanded its education scholarships, placing three young players at one of the University Centres of Cricketing Excellence (UCCE) in England and funding young all-rounder Gregory Maybury at Oakham School in England. In 2009 Stephen Outerbridge and Jekon Edness, both valued national team players and outstanding role models, graduated from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. Stephen is currently Vice Captain of the National team.

The ability for our young players to attend university in England is a major element of elite player development in our high performance programme. Students attending UWIC receive Level 3 coaching year round, access to indoor nets, numerous first class fixtures and healthy competition as well as quality teaching leading to their undergraduate degree.
