On Saturday 28 September the BCB held the 2013 Award Ceremony at the Goslings Wine Cellar. It was an exciting evening attended by the Hon. Premier Craig Cannonier, JP, MP with 'Bootsie' as the MC. 2013-09-27 Treadwell Gibbons Update

At the September 26th BCB Executive Meeting the Board ratified the actions of the sub-committee appointed to investigate and adjudicate on the Treadwell Gibbons Cup Match incident. The sub-committee ruled that the suspension of Treadwell Gibbons from the national squad will continue until the following conditions had been met: - One year of community service - Satisfactorily complete a BCB approved anger management/impulse control assessment. The decision has been communicated to Treadwell both verbally and in writing and he has accepted and understood the sanctions imposed.

2013-09-23 Disciplinary Hearing Update

|
In the game against St. David's CCC on Saturday 14 September, Mr. Curtis Jackson was charged with the following: Showing serious dissent at an Umpire?s decision, (Level 2), Intimidation of an Umpire or Match Referee whether by language or conduct (including gestures) during any Match, (Level 3), and Where the facts of the alleged incident are not adequately or clearly covered by any of the above offences, conduct brings the game into disrepute (Level 3). Mr. Jackson plead guilty and was suspended from all cricket for a period of time that is sufficient to include 12 BCB club 50 Over matches (the date is to be confirmed once the 2014 domestic schedule has been finalized).

Jordan Smith is now in the UK where he is spending the remainder of the summer playing cricket for Worcestershire East U15's and Knowle and Dorridge U15's. ?This week (Aug 5 -9) Jordan will be playing in a tournament for Worcestershire East U15's. On Monday, Aug 5th Worcestershire?s East were scheduled to play two T20?s which had to be called off due to bad weather. ?Tuesday, Aug 6th?Worcestershire's East played a 40 over match against Worcestershire's Central. ?Worcestershire Central won the toss and batted first. After 20 overs Worcestershire Central were 67 for 7. Two of Worcestershire's Central late order batsmen had an 85 run partnership helping the Central team move the score to 169 all out in 40 overs. ??Worcestershire East opened the batting with Jordan Smith batting at number 1. Jordan Smith and the number 3 batsman had an 80 run partnership. Jordan was the second highest scorer with 44 after being dismissed lbw. Top scorer was batsman number 3 with 52. Worcestershire East ended up winning the match scoring 171 for 6 after 33 overs. Jordan also had bowling figures 6-0-18-2. Worcestershire East played Shropshire Development Squad at Alveley CC on Thursday 8 August in a 40 over match. Worcestershire East scored 245 for 1 in their 40 overs. Jordan Smith opened the batting for Worcestershire East, batting at number 1 with his team captain. Jordan and his captain had a 244 run partnership. The captain scored 157 not out. Jordan scored 70 in 39.5 overs. Jordan was the only wicket the Worcestershire East lost. Shropshire Development Squad finished 110 for 9 after 40 overs.

The BCB is pleased to announce that registration is still open for the BCB Summer Clinic for girls and boys age 7 to 14. The clinic runs July 22 August 23 from 9am to 3pm with optional after-camp supervision from 3pm to 5.30pm at Berkeley Institute Gym and Nets and Western Stars Field. The camp costs $100 per week and an additional $50 per week for the after-clinic supervision and is supported by Argus and the Argo Foundation. [More]

2013-07-08 T20 & Logic Championship Update & Schedule
|

Following further consultation and discussion the Clubs have requested the BCB to revert to playing T20 games on Saturdays using white clothing and red balls. The original format, with the group stages scheduled mid-week at DRC and SCC, has been found not to be conducive to easy sighting of a red ball. The clubs confirmed that they are available to play in September and the schedule has been amended accordingly. Additionally, the BCB have announced the draw for the Logic Championship and Logic Plate. This is a new knock-out competition that supplements the one division format adopted this year. Jordan has received an award from the Bromsgrove School for his outstanding cricket performance in the 14A team. Jordan had the second highest amount of runs scored this season totaling 318. The top scorer- the teams captain had a total of 320 for the season. Jordan and the Captain have both opened every innings this season for team, with Jordan batting at number 1 and his captain batting at number 2. Jordan also had bowling figures for the season 38-10-60-10. Congratulations Jordan, keep up the good work!

The BCB is pleased to announce that the 2013 Logic MVP will be selected based on an objective points system. The rankings will be updated each week so that players can determine their position and track their improvement. The system works by allocating points to various performances within a game. For example: Batting:- 1pt per run scored, 25 bonus points for a 100 Bowling:- 20 pts for unassisted wickets (Bowled/LBW) and 10 pts for assisted wickets (Caught/Stumped) and 50 pts for a Hat Trick Fielding:- 10 pts for Catches or a Stumping Nyon Steede, Chairman of the Cricket Committee said, "This development provides further interest and enjoyment for those playing in the Logic Premier League. The BCB already recognises the Logic Player of the Week and the Logic Emerging Player of the Week in addition to the Chivas Sportsman of the Week prize. I thank the contribution of Lloyd Smith who has helped develop the system and will be updating this on a weekly basis. I wish all players the best of luck in their efforts to improve their ranking." The Hiscox Celebrity Cricket Festival was a blast this year! The game ended in a draw with both teams getting 107. The top 11&Under scorer was Iyaun Smith with 16 followed closely by De-nyi Thomas with 14. David Roache was the top celebrity scorer followed by Graham Ward. The celebrity Play of the Game was awarded to Chris Hayward for a one handed catch and the U11 Play of the Game went to Alex Withers-Clarke for another excellent catch. The Celebrity Player of the Game went to Nikita Robinson from Hott 1075 for taking two wickets. Iyaun Smith was the 11&Under Player of the Game for being the top run and wicket taker. The Bermuda Cricket Board is seeking a volunteer Fundraising Coordinator to plan and coordinate the BCB National Academy players and parents (BCBNA) to raise funds for a cricket and cultural awareness tour to the UK in July/August, 2013. The Fundraising Coordinator for the 2013 UK tour will organise and implement a successful fundraising strategy and plan in collaboration with the Marketing Manager and the National Coach. The Coordinator will be responsible for organising the parents and players to develop and implement a fundraising plan and assist in the supervision of the activities (along side the parents and coaches).
