School Cricket

Since 2004, the Bermuda Cricket Board has been working in conjunction with the Ministry of Sport to bring cricket back into the schools as part of the national curriculum. The Cricket Development Director, Arnold Manders, and National Team Captain, Irving Romaine, have penetrated 100% of our Government schools assisting physical education teachers with coaching, umpiring and scoring. Several of these teachers completed their Coaching Level I, which was offered in April, 2009.

In 2009 we were extremely pleased to see that a number of inter-school cricket tournaments were held at the National Stadium - Knock-out, Super Eight and All-Star, for both boys and girls at the primary and middle age-group. In addition numerous schools, both public and private have teams, which compete in the BCB Youth Leagues.
