History will be made next Saturday when Bermuda Host the ICC WCL Div 3
Four of Bermuda's umpires will make cricket history at the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 tournament starting on Sunday 28 April. Roger Dill, Stephen Douglas, Richard Austin and Kent Gibbons have been selected to officiate at the event, which is the first time in seven years, over 19 different tournaments, that four umpires from the same country have stood together at one tournament.

Jones and Tucker win Awards from ICC Americas Tournament
The BCB is pleased to confirm that last night ICC Americas have awarded Janeiro Tucker with MVP for the tournament. Janeiro finished second in both the batting and bowling and took seven catches (two more than any other player). Malachi Jones was awarded Best Bowler of the Tournament for taking thirteen wickets along with Janeiro Tucker and Sauid Drepaul from Suriname. It was Malachi's superior bowling average that clinched him the award.

After the first stage of the double round robin T20 competition Bermuda are 2nd in the table with 3 wins from 4 games. The team has a day off today before their double header tomorrow against Cayman at 10am and USA at 3pm at the Brian Piccolo Park. Coach Manders stated, I am fairly pleased with our progress to date although we certainly will not take any teams for granted in the remainder of the tournament.

BCB National Academy Scholarship and UK Boarding School Education Seminar
The BCB recently conducted a UK School Scholarship Seminar for all parents of National Academy players aged between ten and sixteen. Ms Kellie Smith, mother of Jordan Smith, presented and advised the parents on the processes of applying for scholarships for UK boarding schools. In September 2012, Jordan Smith (pictured below), obtained a significant scholarship to attend Bromsgrove School in Birmingham for the next four years. Bromsgrove School has an excellent cricket program.

National Coach Update
The BCB regretfully confirms that David Moore has indicated that, for personal and family reasons, he is not available to continue to work in Bermuda when his current contract expires on March 1, 2013. As an interim measure, until May 6th, 2013 (the completion of World Cricket League Division 3), Arnold Manders will assume National Head Coach duties with Clevie Wade remaining as national assistant coach. David Moore will provide guidance and support to the national team support staff to ensure a seamless transition for the players.

Lindo's & Youth Tour
Lindo's T/20 to help U13 & U15 Youth Cricket Tour The BCB and Somerset Cricket Club have agreed to use Thursday night's Lindo's T/20 Semi-Final match between Bailey's Bay Cricket Club and Southampton Rangers Sports Club as a fund-raising event for the BCB National Academy U13 & U15 UK Tour. Parents and players will be charging a $5 entry fee to the match with all proceeds going towards the costs of the tour. Lloyd Fray, BCB President, said "I am very pleased that Lindo's and Somerset Cricket Club have agreed to assist these young men and this very deserving cause. I urge everybody to enjoy the match and give generously."

Update on Code of Conduct Breaches - Janeiro Tucker and Dion Stovell
Due to a change in the T20 schedule the dates on which the suspensions for Janeiro Tucker and Dion Stovell have changed. The suspensions are based on a specific number of matches. Janeiro Tucker was suspended for 3 matches and therefore is not eligible to play on Sunday July 22nd. Dion Stovell was suspended for two 50 over matches and one T20 game. Therefore, he is eligible to play on Sunday July 22nd but not on Thursday July 26th.

This weekend's game St. Georges CC v Somerset Bridge RC has been postponed due to the funeral of Rupert Scotland, a member, former league and Cup Match player for St. Georges Cricket Club. President of the BCB, Mr. Lloyd Fray commented, "Rupert Scotland was an outstanding local and international cricketer and a true gentleman who epitomized the spirit of the cricket and always showed great sportsmanship. On behalf of the board we offer our most sincere condolences to his family and friends at this time."

Knock-Out Regulations
As a reminder and clarification for this weekend's KO Cup matches the standard 50 over rules will apply except for: In case of a tie the one over eliminator will be used to determine the winner If a game cannot be completed then a bowl-off will determine the result If a bowl-off cannot be implemented, the winner will be decided by the toss of a coin. For the first 2 rounds of the competition average run rate will be applied in rain affected matches. Duckworth-Lewis will apply to the Semi-Final and Final.

At the BCB Executive meeting on Monday April 30th the transfer of Dwayne Adams from YMSC to Warwick and the transfer of Treadwell Gibbons from Western Stars to Cleveland were approved. The transfer of Kameron Fox from Devonshire Rec was not approved. The Executive resolved that the transfer system would be subject to a detailed review and update to be implemented prior to the 2013 season.

2012 Schedule - T20, Knock Out Cup and Regional Super Series
We are pleased to provide the schedule for the T20, the BCB Knock Out Cup and the Regional Super Series. We are unable to publish the 50 Overs schedule at this time as the Board is still waiting for confirmation from two clubs of their home field. The schedule will be published no later than Wednesday 2 May. A captains and coaches meeting to distribute the regulations and code of contact will take place on Thursday 3rd May, 2012 at the Labour and Training Building on Reid Street at 6pm.
