West Indies Tour Training Squad Announced

BCB West Indies Tour

The BCB is pleased to confirm that the following players have been selected for the West Indies Tour to Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenada, January 29 - February 28, 2009.

Stefan Kelly is unable to travel due to academic commitments.

Due to an ongoing lower back and shoulder injury aggravated during the Argentina tour, Mr. Glenn Blakeney is unable to tour with the team. The injury necessitates a six to eight week rehabilitation period. Whilst the team is on tour, Glenn will follow a full-time rehabilitation programme, which includes core strengthening such as pilates, cardio rehabilitation, sports specific strengthening and a home exercise plan. We anticipate that Glenn will rejoin the squad on their return at which time his fitness will be further assessed.

National Coach, Gus Logie stated, "In the face of some setbacks our ongoing preparations will be taking on another phase and challenge in the Caribbean. I have every confidence the players will equip themselves well and their performances both on and off the field will be of an acceptable level."

President of the BCB, Reginald Pearman stated, "I am pleased with the quality preparation plan that has been made available to the players as we strive to qualify for another World Cup. I encourage all members of the touring squad to give 100% effort to make the final 15 that will travel to South Africa."
