8&U Youth League Rules

The main purpose is participation and development.  Competitiveness is to be discouraged, fair play BOYS & GIRLS.

Our aims

  • Develop a balanced attitude to competition
  • Provide an opportunity for parents and grandparents to come along and enjoy the game as part of our local cricket community.

We want to provide opportunities for all our children to have fun, play with their friends, make new friends and develop their sporting capabilities.

1. (a) Due to the number of teams entering the league, teams may be grouped into
              two or more sections, where possible on a geographical basis.

(b) Matches shall start at 9:30am and 10:45 a.m. at the National Stadium.
             

2. There will be no official standings kept and only the individual performances of batsman and bowlers will be taken during the game (no team scores). It is the responsibility of both teams to complete the score sheet on the day of the game.

3. Players born on or after September 1, 2000.

4. Each team shall comprise of 8 players.

5. The pitch shall be 16 yards (or umpire's discretion).

6. Equipment is available from the BCB office.  Junior Eastern Incrediball (soft core) pads are optional.

8. Each game shall consist of one innings per side.  Boundaries shall count as four runs.  Clear boundaries shall count as six runs.  30 yard boundaries will be used.

9. The batting side shall be divided into pairs, each pair batting for 3 overs. Pairs change at the end of the 3rd, 6th and 9th overs.

10. Batsman shall have unlimited 'lives'.


11. No person may bowl more than 2 overs but every player has to bowl at least 1 over.  No bowler can commence their second over until the entire team has each bowled one.

12. No fielders will be allowed within 10 yards in front of the striker?s wicket at the instant of delivery.

13. At the fall of each wicket, the batsman shall change ends.  This shall not apply if a wicket falls on the last ball of an over.

14. Each side shall provide a responsible person to umpire their games, who will be allowed to assist their teams in the field.

15. In the case of any disputes the final decision will be made by the BCB Development Committee.
