Cricket Development Director, Arnold Manders stated:

"The coaching staff is very pleased with the team selected for the U19 World Cup. It has a very balanced bowling attack led by Senior World Cup players Malachi Jones and Stefan Kelly, three off-spinners in captain Rodney Trott, Tamauri Tucker and Chris Douglas, one leg spinner in Tre Govia and an abundance of medium pacers in Jordan DeSilva, Kyle Hodsoll, Gregory Maybury and Lamar Richardson. In the batting department, the team will rely heavily on the senior experience of captain Rodney Trott and vice captain Malachi Jones along with Chris Douglas, Terryn Fray, Young Player of the Year - Deunte Darrell, Stefan Kelly, Dennico Hollis and Lamar Richardson. For Bermuda to be a contender they will need all of these young men to make valuable contributions to build respectable totals. The team is extremely fit and agile and thanks to the Montpelier Re Foundation, they have gained invaluable exposure by playing in the Sir Garfield Sobers Tournament for the past few years as well as having the opportunity to be lectured and given advice by the likes of Sir Vivian Richards, Curtley Ambrose, Sir Garfield Sobers, Charles Griffin, Joel Garner, Bernard Julien and Derrick Murray on the finer points of the game to assist their development both on and off the field. The coaches truly believe that if they can perform to the best of their ability and remain disciplined and focused throughout the tournament, they have the potential to achieve their team goals of qualifying for the Super 8 and to be the best Associate Member in the Tournament."

Anthony Taylor, Chairman and CEO of Montpelier Re, said,

"For the past three years our charitable foundation has been proud to support the U19 team at the Sir Garfield Sobers Tournament. Our company is now delighted to step in to support these talented young men at the World Cup. We hope the international training and experience they have received to date will serve them well and we wish them the best of luck in achieving their goals. We will certainly be cheering for them."

Reginald Pearman, President of the BCB stated:

"We are extremely grateful for the generous sponsorship of Montpelier Re, the official U19 World Cup Sponsors, and the Bermuda Government. The BCB is truly appreciative of their generous sponsorship providing the team with the chance to train overseas. Without their continued support these opportunities would not be possible.  I would also like to take this time to thank the Team Officials and the U19 Squad for all their hard work and commitment in the run up to the World Cup.  We understand the level of competition they will face in Malaysia is going to be tough but we know the entire squad has worked extremely hard and are ready to compete on such a prestigious international stage.  We at the BCB wish the team all the best throughout the tournament and know they will represent Bermuda well."
