Americas Regional Development Manager, Martin Vieira , announced today the management team which will accompany the U15 Americas Development squad invited to the CLICO U15 tournament in the West Indies.

 

"I am delighted to have such experienced and knowledgeable individuals volunteer their time to the development of these youths. I really could not have hoped for any better than this group and I know they will pass on their vast experience to the members of the team. My sincere appreciation to Mr. Anthony (Tony) Harford, Marketing Director - ALL SPORT; Mr. Bruce Aanensen, former CEO of the WICB, and the sponsors CLICO for inviting us to send this Development Team. It will be an invaluable lesson for the young players of the region."

 

The team is expected to be announced later this month and will contain players from 4 or 5 countries of the region.

Group 1 consisting of the West Indies, Ireland, Bangladesh and Kenya will play in Trinidad.

Group 2 consisting of Pakistan, Holland, Zimbabwe and Americas Dev. XI will play in Guyana.

 

Americas Development Team Management:

 

Manager- Lionel Tannock (Bermuda). Lionel has a wealth of managerial experience starting as a parent volunteer traveling with the Bermuda team. In 2004 he was appointed Team Manager for Bermuda's U15 National Team, a position which he held until 2006 when he was appointed Manager of Bermuda's World Cup Senior Team.

 

Assistant Manager- Calvin Clarke (Canada). Calvin's over 40 years of administrative work earned him the 2007 ICC Development Lifetime Award for the Americas. His previous managerial experience includes the running of many International events as well as being the Assistant Manager of Canada's Senior Team at the ICC qualifying tournaments in the 1980s.

 

Coach - Theodore (Theo) Cuffy (Cayman Islands). Coach Cuffy was a former National player for his native Trinidad & Tobago, having represented his country in 55 first class matches with an average score of 27.40. A right hand bat and right arm medium pacer, Theo now lives in the Cayman Islands where he serves as the Technical Director for cricket. A qualified coach, Theo has led both the Senior and U19 squads into battle in many International arenas and will be right at home in the West Indies as he leads the Americas Development Team against some of the best young players in the world.
