BCB Corrects Misleading Statements in Media

Further to yesterday's press release, BCB President, Reginald Pearman, elaborates on one of the more recent misleading statements in the local media.

On Friday February 15th, the Royal Gazette stated:

To date the BCB have yet to declare its long-term vision for the sport or show how they are spending the public's hard-earned cash.

This is completely untrue and utterly misleading. The Board has consistently communicated its vision and strategic goals since being awarded the special grant of $11M from Government.

For example -

There is this article in the Bermuda Sun -

Not only have we declared our long-term vision of the sport we have continually demonstrated that we are appropriately spending the monies entrusted to us. The financial statements are filed on a timely basis with the Registry General; the Annual report was accepted by all members, sent to Government officials, ICC management, sponsors and other interested parties.

It is the Board's opinion it is also misleading for the daily to withhold significant positive achievements of the Board and Bermuda cricket. The latest example is the ICC declaring Bermuda the big winner of development awards and the subsequent press release by the Board that somehow was not worthy of print in the RG.
