January 23, 2009 BBC Announces Pee Wee "Have-a-go" Cricket Workshop The Bermuda Cricket Board, with the support of the Western Counties Cricket Association and Ironshore Insurance Ltd., is pleased to announce that they will be holding a Pee Wee "Have-a-go" Cricket Workshop for children ages 5 - 7. The Workshop will be held at Berkeley Institute Gym and will take place every Saturday, starting on March 7 and finishing on April 11, 2009. The sessions will run from 12.00pm - 1.30pm. Mr. Arnold Manders, Cricket Development Director stated, "During the session, the young players will be introduced to the basics of cricket with the main aim of having fun. Utilising the "Have-a-go" Cricket equipment, we will work with the players on learning the basics skills of catching, bowling and batting with the aim of playing a game on the last Saturday. The emphasis of "Have-a-go" Cricket is on participation and enjoyment. The equipment is made from high quality plastic which is light enough for small hands so it will be perfect for this age group." Mr. Pearman, President of the BCB commented, "I am particularly pleased to see that the young ones will get a chance to experience cricket once again. This is the second time the BCB has run this programme and last year it was fully subscribed. This is an excellent way of introducing the young players to the game of cricket with the hope that they will want to enter our 8&U Youth league in a year or two. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Western Counties Cricket Association and Ironshore Insurance Ltd. for sponsoring these sessions." To register: please download the registration form by CLICKING HERE and return by fax (292 8959), email (info@cricket.bm) or deliver to the BCB as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact the BCB on 292 8958 or email info@cricket.bm Participation is free. Dress and equipment: Please ensure players bring some water and come in comfortable clothes and sneakers for running around. They are welcome to bring their own plastic bat if they have one, however, please make sure it is clearly labeled with their name. Parents are encouraged to volunteer during sessions if they wish! |
