ICC WCL Div 3 Inspection Update
|
The BCB is pleased to announce a successful and productive inspection visit of Bermuda by the International Cricket Council (ICC) Development Events Manager, Edward Fitzgibbon. During the visit, potential host venues and practice venues have been inspected and measured against objective criteria used for international ICC events. The BCB is delighted to report that all stakeholders involved in preparation for the world cup qualifying tournament next year have received flying colours.

National Coach Update

The BCB regretfully confirms that David Moore has indicated that, for personal and family reasons, he is not available to continue to work in Bermuda when his current contract expires on March 1, 2013. As an interim measure, until May 6th, 2013 (the completion of World Cricket League Division 3), Arnold Manders will assume National Head Coach duties with Clevie Wade remaining as national assistant coach. David Moore will provide guidance and support to the national team support staff to ensure a seamless transition for the players.

BCB President Lloyd Fray announced that David Hemp will be stepping down from his position as captain of Bermuda with immediate effect. David has indicated his willingness to continue to represent Bermuda as a player and assist in the mentoring of the future captains. The BCB Executive has recently approved a Captaincy Criteria document that will be used to assess and select future captains.

Lindo's & Youth Tour

Lindo's T/20 to help U13 & U15 Youth Cricket Tour
The BCB and Somerset Cricket Club have agreed to use Thursday night's Lindo's T/20 Semi-Final match between Bailey's Bay Cricket Club and Southampton Rangers Sports Club as a fund-raising event for the BCB National Academy U13 & U15 UK Tour.
Parents and players will be charging a $5 entry fee to the match with all proceeds going towards the costs of the tour.
Lloyd Fray, BCB President, said "I am very pleased that Lindo's and Somerset Cricket Club have agreed to assist these young men and this very deserving cause. I urge everybody to enjoy the match and give generously."

Update on Code of Conduct Breaches - Janeiro Tucker and Dion Stovell
|
|
Due to a change in the T20 schedule the dates on which the suspensions for Janeiro Tucker and Dion Stovell have changed. The suspensions are based on a specific number of matches.
Janeiro Tucker was suspended for 3 matches and therefore is not eligible to play on Sunday July 22nd.
Dion Stovell was suspended for two 50 over matches and one T20 game. Therefore, he is eligible to play on Sunday July 22nd but not on Thursday July 26th.

This weekend's game St. Georges CC v Somerset Bridge RC has been postponed due to the funeral of Rupert Scotland, a member, former league and Cup Match player for St. Georges Cricket Club.
President of the BCB, Mr. Lloyd Fray commented, "Rupert Scotland was an outstanding local and international cricketer and a true gentleman who epitomized the spirit of the cricket and always showed great sportsmanship. As a reminder and clarification for this weekend's KO Cup matches the standard 50 over rules will apply except for:
In case of a tie the one over eliminator will be used to determine the winner
If a game cannot be completed then a bowl-off will determine the result
If a bowl-off cannot be implemented, the winner will be decided by the toss of a coin.
For the first 2 rounds of the competition average run rate will be applied in rain affected matches.
Duckworth-Lewis will apply to the Semi-Final and Final.

BELCO President, Andrew Parsons congratulated Baileys Bay Cricket Club for their inaugural win over BELCO Cup hosts St. Davids. Veteran cricketer Clay Smith was named Man of the Match for his innings of 50 in a losing cause.

8&U / 11&U - Wednesdays 4:30 pm at Port Royal School
14&U - Training on Thursdays at Rangers field (coach Janeiro Tucker) at 5:30 pm. Registration will take place this Thursday, 12 April as well.

Bermuda WINS TWO ICC Development Awards

The BCB is extremely pleased to announce that we have been awarded with two ICC Development Program awards for our work in 2011. This year the BCB picked up the award for ICC "Best Junior Cricket Initiative" for the BCB National Academy Program and ICC "Volunteer of the Year" for Mr. Lionel Tannock's long-term service to the cricket in Bermuda. The BCB's Development program came a close second to new Associate, Suriname.
