Ton-up Hollis is Islanders? hero St. David?s 325 and 171-1 Leg Trappers 196 and 296 Spinner Del Hollis was the unlikely all-round hero for St. David?s at Lord?s in this Two-Day First Division clash where he not only shone with the ball but also provided his team with a much-needed century. Besides slamming top score, Hollis finished with seven wickets over the two innings to steer the East Enders to a nine-wicket triumph. 2006-02-17 Cricketers take top honors at the 2005 National Sports Awards
By KYLE HUNTER Sports Editor (The Royal Gazette)--- CRICKETING hero Janeiro Tucker and world-class long jumper Arantxa King were crowned Male and Female Athletes of the Year last night at a gala presentation at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Tucker was praised for his heroics at last summer's ICC Trophy tournament in Ireland where Bermuda qualified for the 2007 Cricket World Cup to be staged in the West Indies. He amassed a total of 439 runs in 12 innings for an average of 39 runs per inning with a high score of 132. The 2006 domestic season will under go several changes, the season is schedule to start on the weekend of April 15/16. 2006-01-20 Injured Clay still waiting for surgery
By Sam Stevens of "The Royal Gazette" -----> Injured Bermuda captain Clay Smith is still awaiting the all-clear from his insurance company before flying out to Colorado for surgery on his troublesome left knee. Speaking to The Royal Gazette yesterday, Smith said he should be on his way in the ?next two or three weeks? once it is officially confirmed that the cost of the operation will be covered. He will remain in the ski resort of Vail for up to 14 days afterwards for intensive rehabilitation. The 35-year old batsman has a minor tear to the cartilage in his left knee as well as considerable arthritis on the bone. [More]
