The Bermuda Cricket Boar announced that Devonshire Recreation Club scorer Michael Glasford has been selected to attend the ICC Americas Regional Scorer Education Program, held in Toronto, Canada (August 25th ? August 26th 2007). The course is designed for experienced scorers aiming for The Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers (ACUS) accreditation. The BCB was allowed to nominate one representative to participate. Glasford was chosen to take part in the programme because of the length of his scoring career, which began in 1968, and his international experience in the field. In addition, he was not available to take part in the ACUS course that the BCB ran earlier this year. Bermuda Cricket Board President Reginald Pearman said, ?We are very excited and pleased that Glasford has been given the opportunity to attend the Regional Scorer Program. He takes with him a wealth of scoring experience and is highly regarded in his field. In April, 2007, the BCB ran an ACUS accredited course for introductory and intermediate scorers which proved very popular amongst officials and this course is just part of the BCB?s continuing commitment to increasing the educational opportunities and qualifications for officials in Bermuda.?

2007-05-01 Guidelines for U19 participation in the Premier League
Preamble The U19 World Cup is staged once every 2 years. The current make-up has one team from the ICC Americas region in the tournament. It is a goal of the BCB to have its U19 team qualify for this tournament on a regular basis. The qualifying tournaments are held in odd numbered years i.e. 2007 is a qualifying year. As part of the preparation for the team the coaching staff, including National Coach Gus Logie, have recommended that the team should play in the 50 overs element of the the Premier league to obtain exposure to a higher level of competition to foster development as well as providing additional time playing as a unit. This participation will be supplemented by participation in the Sir Garfield Sobers Tournament in July ( 3 ? weeks ) before leaving for Toronto on August 8th(provisional). Bermuda?s chances of success this year are now greater as unfortunately the USA have been suspended from international cricket. Regulations 1. The Bermuda National U19 (?U19?) team will be included as the 9th team in the Premier League. 2. They will not be relegated irrespective of their final position in the league. 3. The U19 will play each Premier team once. Points earned by all clubs will count towards the final standings. 4. The 2 teams will be relegated from the Premier league will be the non U19 teams with the lowest points aggregate. 5. The U19 team will be selected on Wed evening and non-selected players will be released to play for their clubs. 6. The U19 National coaches will have complete discretion over team selection ? Arnold Manders, Andre Manders and Clevie Wade.
