BCB President Responds to Misleading Royal Gazette re Leverock

Mr. Lloyd Fray, President of the BCB, responded to today's misleading Royal Gazette article by stating,

"On behalf of the Board I would like to express our extreme disappointment in the story written about one of Bermuda's most talented young players, Kamau Leverock. The article unnecessarily and incorrectly blemishes Leverock's reputation.

Leverock was not 'dropped' for the T20 tournament and neither has 'been axed from Bermuda's senior squad.'

The facts are that Leverock withdrew from the squad due to school commitments and has been replaced by Dennico Hollis.

In our experience it is not unusual for young men, balancing schoolwork and cricket commitments, to be unavailable for international cricket duty. In particular the current squad features many younger players that are in secondary or tertiary education.

This misleading, damaging and distasteful article is completely unfair. I fully expect that the Royal Gazette will correct this injustice in short order."
