Coach Manders gives an up-date

halfway through the Tournament

After the first stage of the double round robin T20 competition Bermuda are 2nd in the table with 3 wins from 4 games. The team has a day off today before their double header tomorrow against Cayman at 10am and USA at 3pm at the Brian Piccolo Park.

Coach Manders stated,

I am fairly pleased with our progress to date although we certainly will not take any teams for granted in the remainder of the tournament. Our objective remains the same to be in the top 2 at the end of the tournament to qualify for the global World T20 qualifier in November. The squad went for a light jog this morning as part of a recuperation session lead by Craig Brown. Jason Anderson is still recovering from a bout of the flu therefore I expect to have 13 fit players for tomorrow.

Manders highlighted some of the performances thus far stating, there have been some impressive individual performances including the following;

  • - garnering all four man of the match awards by Malachi Trott, Dion Stovell and Janeiro Tucker (2);

  • - 4 batsmen in the tournament top 6 run scorers including Janeiro Tucker, Dion Stovell, David Hemp and Stephen Outerbridge; and

  • - 3 out of 6 top tournament wicket takers including Malachi Jones, Janeiro Tucker and Rodney Trott.

Manders concluded, Although we have some areas that we continue to work on, the squad is gelling together well and working hard on their respective roles.
