Bermuda is OFFICIALLY the BEST in the WORLD!

 

The ICC has declared Bermuda as the big winner in the GLOBAL Development Awards for 2007. Bermuda has won, "Best Overall Cricket Development Program" and "Photo of the Year" beating all other countries from the African, Asian, East Asian Pacific and European Regions.

 

The "Best Overall Cricket Development Program" award places emphasis on excellence in all of governance, management, cricket operations and development. The winner of this award has to be an outstanding national cricket body with an excellent national cricket structure that caters for senior and junior players, both male and female.

 

2007 Highlights include:

  • ICC Americas Regional Senior Champions
  • ICC Americas U19 Regional Champions
  • U19 National Squad Qualified for the ICC U19 World Cup
  • Women's National Team successfully defeated Canada to qualify to go to the ICC World Cup Qualifiers
  • 1000 Children now play regular competitive cricket (compared to 300 in 2005)
  • 2000 Children are now being exposed to cricket in school

 

President of the BCB, Reginald Pearman stated:

 

"This is a historic achievement for Bermuda and the Bermuda Cricket Board. Not only has the Board's efforts been recognised at the Americas Regional Level, but we now know that our Development Programme is the best in the world. Each of our strategic goals in this period have been advanced. In particular, one of our goals is to be recognised as an international model of best practice among the Associate Members of the ICC, this result validates our progress to date."

 

The "Photo of the Year" captures the essence of cricket development in action.
