Hamilton, Bermuda, Monday, 1 June 2009 ?The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) and Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited is pleased to announce the 2009 Hiscox 11&U Celebrity Cricket Festival to celebrate Bermuda's 400^th Anniversary was a great success. With a game that featured 15 celebrities, watched by a crowd approaching 1,000 people, the U11 All-Stars defeated a Celebrity Adult team by 37 runs.

In the second game (U11 East vs. West) the U11 West defeated the U11 East by 18 runs. The MVP was Aaron Burgess for the East and Alex Dore for the West.

 

 

Boxer, Teresa Perozzi stated about her performance, "Well I wouldn't quite give up my boxing career just yet!  I need a lot of work but actually I really enjoyed the game and the whole day and would love to participate in it again.  Next time I will put in some real training and be ready to hit some 6's!"

 

Charles Dupplin, Chief Executive Officer, Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited said, "It was a tremendous day and the Celebrity team was well beaten by a very promising U11side. We thirst for revenge another year."

 

Mr. Reginald Pearman, President of the BCB stated, "The BCB would like to thank all the celebrities and the many volunteers and staff for taking part and organising what proved to be a great day of cricket for youth cricket and the local community. The event was a great success with lots of supporters enjoying the cricket and the many free activities around the field.  In addition, I am pleased to announce that we raised $747 for the Sunshine League with our raffle. This event could not of happened without the support of Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda) who continue to support the 11&U League - our most popular youth league that currently features 20 teams. The BCB is extremely proud of the young boys and girls that participated showing tangible proof that youth cricket is flourishing in Bermuda."
