2009 Hiscox 11&U Celebrity Cricket Festival

Hamilton, Bermuda, Thursday, 14 May 2009 - Today the Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) and Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited jointly announced plans for the 2009 Hiscox 11&U Celebrity Cricket Festival to celebrate Bermuda's 400th Anniversary. The Festival takes place on Sunday 31 May at the National Sports Centre, North Field, 1pm start. 

The line-up for Sunday is as follows: 
1pm - Celebrities vs. 11&U All Star Game - 1pm start
3Pm - 11&U East vs. 11&U West All Star Game - 3pm start

There will be free children's entertainment during the afternoon - face painting, tattooing, bouncy castle and slide. Lunch will be provided however you must pick up your free lunch ticket and t-shirt from the BCB office, #9 Gorham Road, Pembroke, HM 08, prior to the event.

There will be a raffle and all proceeds will go to the Sunshine League. The Sunshine league Children's Home has continued to be a "Ray of Hope" in the lives of children in need for over 85 years.  The home operates a much-needed residential care facility for displaced children between the ages of 8 and 16 years.

Charles Dupplin, Chief Executive Officer, Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited said, "It is tremendous to be able to help nurture the next generation of Bermuda cricketers and we hope the festival will underline the popularity of the national game at every level.  I started young, am still playing and still enjoying every aspect of the game, except possibly being tonked for 6."

Reginald Pearman, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board, stated, "The Bermuda Cricket Board is extremely pleased to work alongside Hiscox to host this fun and exciting event. Hiscox has been the major sponsor of our 11&U League, which has grown considerably from 8 teams to 22 in the past three years. Hiscox has provided playing shirts and cricket gear for all 11&U teams, which has given he players the opportunity to experience the game using the proper equipment. In addition to thanking Hiscox for their continued support, I would like to thank the celebrities for giving their time, dusting off their cricket gear and entertaining the crowd. Fans are encouraged to come out and celebrate Bermuda's 400 Anniversary and to enjoy the games and festivities."

  •         If a wicket falls 2 runs will be deducted from the score
