National Coach, Gus Logie Retires from Bermuda Cricket

The Bermuda Cricket Board can confirm that Gus Logie, National Coach for the Bermuda Team, has informed the Board that once his contract expires in September, 2009, he will not be seeking a renewal.

During his tenure some of Gus' highlights include:

  • Bermuda's historic qualification to the ICC World Cup in July 2005 when Bermuda became the smallest country ever to qualify;
  • in 2005, Gus led Bermuda to the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Cup;
  • in 2006 Bermuda won the Americas Regional 50 Overs Championship;
  • in 2006 Bermuda won it's first ODI - one of only four countries to achieve this;
  • in 2008 Bermuda won their first ever ODI series against Canada; and
  • in 2007 Gus assisted the U19 team in the qualification for the ICC U19 World Cup.

Reginald Pearman, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board stated,

"The Board is naturally disappointed that that Gus has decided to move on. He is a thorough professional and an ideal role model for all our players.  He is truly a world-class coach who has accomplished a lot for cricket in Bermuda.  Despite all his achievements he is a very humble and personable individual and he will be sorely missed. We wish Gus and his family continued success in their endeavors and hope that they will always call Bermuda their second home. I recognise that the Board will have to undergo an extensive search to find a coach of his caliber and exemplary character."

Gus Logie, National Coach stated,

"I would like to thank the Bermuda Cricket Board Executives and staff, the Bermuda Government, players and the Bermuda community for their support and encouragement over the past four years. I have enjoyed my time here and wish Bermuda all the best for the future."
