BCB offers ICC Level 1 Coaching Course

As part of the BCB's commitment to education and development we are offering a Level 1 Coaching Course run by Wendell Coppin, ICC Regional Development Officer. The course will run Monday 29 November 6pm-9pm, Wednesday 1 December 6pm-9pm, Thursday 2 December 6pm-9pm and will conclude on Saturday 4 December 9.30am-4.30pm (venue to be confirmed). The BCB is offering this course FREE to all participants and we would like to encourage players, ex-players, interested supporters, parents and coaches to attend.

The Level I Coaching Course covers the following areas:

- Athlete Preparation
- Basics in batting, bowling, fielding, wicketkeeping
- Captaincy
- Biomechanics in Cricket
- Coaching Principles
- Game Sense Training
- Group/Net Coaching
- The Mental Game
- Presentation Skills (how to coach skills)
- Skill Acquisition (teaching methods & techniques)

A large part of the BCB's development plan is to increase the number of qualified coaches and to maintain coaching standards across the island. In addition to learning how to coach bowling, fielding and batting, the courses will provide the know-how for coaches to plan detailed training sessions and yearly training programmes. They will learn how to present effectively during 'classroom' or group coaching sessions and they will examine the role of the coach and the skills and abilities that lead to effective coaching. The BCB would like to encourage all interested parties particularly the youth league coaches and senior club coaches to sign up and get qualified.
