Newcomers PHC Win Eighth Annual BELCO CUP

 

 

HAMILTON, Bermuda (Thursday, May 20, 2010) - Today, Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited (BELCO) and the Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) presented cheques related to the Eight Annual BELCO Cup, May 15-16.

 

BELCO Executive Vice President, Andrew Parsons congratulated Pembroke Hamilton Club (PHC) for their victorious win over six time BELCO Cup winners Southampton Rangers. 

 

Prize cheques were also presented to the following:

 

  • Winners - Pembroke Hamilton Club (PHC) -- $1,500 (winners)
  • Finalists - Southampton Rangers -- $1,000
  • Semi-finalists - St. David's County Club and Baileys Bay Cricket Club -- $500 each
  • Man of the Match - Janerio Tucker -- $300

 

BELCO, BCB and St. David's County Cricket Club, who traditionally host the Final, jointly agreed that the charity 'No Child Goes Without' founded by Ms Grejai Smith should benefit from proceeds of the Final once again.  'No Child Goes Without', which provides free lunches to school children is the recipient of the $5.00 admission fees to the final, as well as the sale of $10 children's BELCO Cup T-shirts. In addition, the Umpires generously contributed their fees for both days to the charity.  As a result, BCB presented a cheque for $3,630 to 'No Child Goes Without'.

 

As Cup sponsor, BELCO also presented a cheque for $3,000 to the Bermuda Cricket Board.
