BCB Announces National Academy U13 & U15 2012 UK Tour

The Bermuda Cricket Board National Academy (BCBNA) Under 13 & Under 15 Teams will be touring the UK, August 18 to September 1. Whilst on tour, the national players will compete against teams in Leicester, York, Warwick, Bristol and London mixing with other young cricketers from various different social and cultural backgrounds and experiencing international competition at a very competitive level.

Players will have the opportunity to have a number of site-seeing excursions including a guided tour of Lords Cricket Ground and will have the opportunity to watch a days play at a First Class Cricket match. Throughout the time there will be a strong focus on improving their personal diet and nutrition, developing life-skills in addition to learning what it takes to be a professional sportsman.

The overall aim of the BCBNA is to provide talented young cricket players with a comprehensive program to enable them to develop into outstanding cricketers whilst at the same time providing them with the tools they need to develop into well-rounded members of the community. The Academy provides youth with structure, discipline and personal development beyond cricket.

National Coach, David Moore stated, The inaugural Under 13 and Under 15 BCBNA tour to the UK is a wonderful opportunity for our players to gain playing experience overseas and be able to benchmark where they are in comparison to other cricketers in full member nations. It will be tremendous for the players to get an opportunity to compete and perform in conditions that are unfamiliar and challenging.

The players will also be exposed to different cultures both on and off the cricket field. They will mix with young cricketers with heritage and background from throughout the world as well as visit some very historical cricket and non-cricket sites. One of the highlights will be the tour of Lords, the home of cricket, and then the subsequent practice session at the ground.

It is great to see the players undertaking the fundraising for this tour so enthusiastically. They are grocery packing, selling punch cards as well as running a car wash and selling baked goods. This Saturday, 14 July, the players will be washing cars at Esso Tigermart in Warwick, $10 a car from 9am-1pm so please come down and support our young players and get your car cleaned! I hope that the public can support these young players with a small donation to make this tour happen for them.
