![]() National Program Update
Following an extensive objective process and using the recently published Captaincy criteria, (http://www.bermudacricketboard.com/images/Policies/Captaincy%20CriteriaMay2012.pdf), the BCB Executive are pleased to confirm the appointment of Stephen Outerbridge as National Team Captain in both T20 and 50 overs cricket. Stephen has an extensive cricketing background and has served regularly as vice-captain under previous skipper, David Hemp.
The upcoming eight months feature global qualifiers in both formats of the game. The ICC regional T20 qualifiers and ICC World Cricket League Division 3 which will be hosted in Bermuda in April 2013.
Lloyd Fray, President stated,
"The Executive unanimously endorsed the appointment of Stephen as the captain of our national senior team. Under the captaincy criteria he was the outstanding candidate and possesses many qualities that we recognize are important for the leader of our senior team. With Stephen's wealth of international experience in the junior and senior ranks, I expect that he will prove to be an outstanding captain and an excellent role model for our junior and senior players. The BCB Development program continues to produce many outstanding young cricketers and Stephen will play an important role in their progression to the international arena. Stephen will be ably assisted by former captain, David Hemp, who will provide mentoring support and guidance."
David Moore stated,
"Stephen has proven to be a natural leader on and off the cricket field and I fully expect him to do an outstanding job of leading Bermuda. Stephen's commitment to excellence and adherence to international standards of preparation and practice is a shining example to the rest of the squad and our young cricketers. I congratulate and applaud Stephen on his graduation into this vital role for Bermuda cricket." |
