2011 National Junior Athlete Sponsorship Awardee - Damali Bell

Attends Kent County Cricket Academy

The BCB is extremely pleased to announce that Damali Bell, a member of Cleveland County Cricket Club, has been awarded a National Junior Athlete Sponsorship Award to attend the Kent Cricket Academy for the 2011 cricket season.

The Academy is part of Kent County Cricket Club's development programme for developing and preparing young talented players to play professional cricket. This opportunity will offer Damali the chance to train and compete with some of the top young aspiring cricketers in the UK and be coached by some of the leading cricket coaches in the county. The placement will also give Damali a chance to showcase his talents to county clubs across the UK that may lead to professional cricketing opportunities. As part of the program Damali will be seconded to a cricket club and will play Kent League cricket every weekend. He will be trained intensively during the week in batting, bowling, wicket keeping, fielding, fitness, physiotherapy, psychology and nutrition.

Coach David Moore stated,

"I am extremely pleased that Damali has been awarded with this scholarship. He is a hard working individual who shows commitment and dedication in practice and during games. Damali demonstrates good behaviour both on and off the field and is a positive member of the national team. The Kent Cricket Academy has been very successful in enhancing the performance of players offering first class coaching from leading experts in the game and has had numerous graduates play for county teams and for England. I look forward to watching how he develops with this opportunity."

Mr. Reginald Pearman, President of the BCB stated,

"On behalf of the Board I would like to congratulate Damali on winning a National Junior Elite Sponsorship Award. Damali was earmarked by the National Coach, David Moore, and High Performance Manager and Specialist Bowling Coach, Andrew Pick, as having raw natural talent, which if developed he has the potential to pursue cricket as a professional career. In addition, I would also like to take this time to thank the Department of Youth, Sports and Recreation for providing Damali with this opportunity and for their continued support of our talented players and Bermuda's athletes."
