2010 Hiscox 11&U Celebrity Cricket Festival

  

 

Hamilton, Bermuda, Monday, 10 May 2010 - Today the Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) and Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited jointly announced plans for the 2010 Hiscox 11&U Celebrity Cricket Festival to celebrate youth cricket. The Festival takes place on Saturday 12 June at the National Sports Centre, North Field. 

 

The line-up for Saturday is as follows:   

 

     11&U East vs. 11&U West - 9:30am start

    Celebrities vs. 11&U All Star - 1pm start

 

Celebrity Team: Sir Richard Gozney, Minister Glenn Blakeney, JP, MP, Minister Elvin James, JP, MP, Thaao Dill, Power Girl (Patrina O'Connor-Paynter), Nadanja Bailey, Jay Donowa, Teresa Perozzi, Dwayne "Sluggo" Leverock, Stephen Outerbridge, Jekon Edness, Irving Romaine, Lionel Cann, and more ... There will be free children's entertainment during the day - face painting, tattooing, bouncy castle and slide. Lunch and a free t-shirt will be provided for the first 500 to attend.

 

There will be a raffle and all proceeds will go to the Sunshine League. The Sunshine league Children's Home has continued to be a "Ray of Hope" in the lives of children in need for over 85 years.  The home operates a much-needed residential care facility for displaced children between the ages of 8 and 16 years.

 

Charles Dupplin, Chief Executive Officer, Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited said, "The Celebrities are thirsting for revenge following the convincing victory of the U11s last year. It should be a terrific match and Hiscox is delighted support this great family and cricket day out."

 

Reginald Pearman, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board, stated, "The BCB is extremely pleased to be collaborating with Hiscox once again to host this fun family day of cricket and to raise money for the Sunshine League. Hiscox has been a major supporter of youth cricket in Bermuda and this is a day of celebration for all of us to enjoy. I am pleased to see the likes of the Minister Blakeney, JP, MP, the Governor, Sir Richard Gozney, local radio hosts and comedians play alongside our national players to challenge our U11s in a sport they love. Fans are encouraged to come out to enjoy the games, lunch and festivities."
